Kate Alstergren is an accomplished and highly versatile arts leader with extensive experience in the Australian art world.
With a pedigree and undeniable polish established working within Australia’s leading galleries, Kate has emerged as one of Australia’s most respected and passionate Gallery Directors and Art Administrators.
Recognising the need for tailored artist management and an elevated collector experience, Kate has reimagined how artists and buyers come together.
With a passion for contemporary art, Kate has extensive knowledge of Art History and theory. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting), a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) and a Master of Fine Art (Painting).
During Kate’s extensive career she has worked at Olsen Gallery Sydney as Gallery Manager, Roslyn Oxley9, Olsen Gruin New York as Operations Director and Studio Gallery as Group Gallery Director and Curator. A career highlight at Olsen Gallery was collaboration with the indigenous art collective APY Lands developing exhibitions within Australia and America.
Kate has worked with many of Australia’s best artists, building long-term relationships and representing them at Art Fairs, events and conferences both nationally and internationally. She has worked very closely with and has supported hundreds of artists in preparation for exhibition including; Del Kathryn Barton, Dale Frank, Nell, Hany Armanious, John Olsen, Guy Maestri, Sophie Cape, Yaritji Young, Jenny Watson, David Noonan, Nyapanyapa Yunupingu and John Young.
Kate has extensive knowledge and connectivity to Australian contemporary art practice and her commitment to continued academic and commercial advancement, along with her passion for museum and gallery visits around the world, ensures Alstergren can provide a rich experience for anyone desiring to stretch their art knowledge and imagination.
